Howdy Zmaa Andiwalaan (my people),
I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays with your families. I’m still on the road, hunting for a house, but I’m going to giddy on up to Dallas and snag an apartment. After three months of couch surfing, I’m ready to have some space.
While I was galavanting,
created a fantastic website for our new non-profit, the Afghan-American Veterans Alliance. We’re tinkering with it here and there, but we’re now officially on the books and would gladly take your donations. The AAVA seeks to help our Afghan brothers and sisters thrive in the United States by helping them get sustainable employment, housing, and health insurance. They know little about all those things we all take for granted.
When an Afghan refugee arrives, their whole world turns upside down. Too many believe that America hands you a bag of cash when you arrive. Then, after realizing the struggle they face in this country, some of them, not many, return to Afghanistan.
Let’s prevent that from happening.
The AAVA is a non-profit run by Afghans for Afghans. Our treasurer, secretary, and half of our board members are Afghans. We will be building an organization hyper-focused on ensuring our Afghan comrades succeed in this country so that one day they can liberate their homeland.
Until then, however, they need a place to live. So, our vision is to put Afghan officers into their first rent-to-own homes. And I feel confident enough in this plan to bankroll our first qualified and vetted applicant.
However, if you’re interested in donating to our organization, then please do so! We could use all the help we can get.

But if you’re a balla on a budget, then we ask that you share this post with some friends who might be able to pitch in to uphold our promise.
Editor’s Note: We’re having some problems receiving credit card donations right now through AAVA. You can also become a paid subscriber or a founding member who will help us here. All founding member money goes directly into assisting AAVA-related endeavors.

The Future
All right, party people, it’s 4 am on Friday, and I’m finally knocking this thing out. I’m more of a night owl now in retirement. Nevertheless, I’ll officially get an apartment somewhere in Dallas until I find a permanent home. I’m looking forward to FINALLY having my own place. Couch surfing is fun, but a man needs some space after a while.
Until Next Time
