That's Minister Haqqani to You
Trump Empowers a Man Drenched in American Blood
Over the weekend, the United States government lifted the bounty on Sirajuddin Haqqani, a terrorist drenched in American, European, and, most especially, Afghan blood, as well as on other terrorist leaders.
The delisting of Haqqani ends the farce initiated by the Biden administration, which allowed Haqqani to travel abroad despite his status as a specially designated global terrorist. However, now, with Trump’s decision, Haqqani can solidify himself as a statesman instead of a brutal terrorist responsible for enacting a gender apartheid regime.
Zalmay Khalilzad appears to have played an integral role in America’s latest betrayal of our Afghan allies. The one-time Trump and Biden special envoy appeared last week in Kabul to whisk away one of the Taliban’s American prisoners. In return, Khalilzad, as he did in Doha, further legitimized a terrorist group responsible for murdering 70,000 Afghan Security Force members and more than 2,000 American service members.
With the imminent release of a new travel ban, future Afghan allies’ pathways to the United States could be limited. Moreover, with Stephen Miller eager to implement mass deportation, the fate of our current guests—including the Afghans who repeatedly saved my life—may be at risk.
Trump seems inexplicably eager to further embolden the people responsible for killing 3,000 Americans on September 11th. By further legitimizing the Haqqani Network, which former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Adm. Mike Mullen declared a “veritable arm” of Pakistani intelligence, President Trump is giving its ally, Al Qaeda, more time and space to plan the next attack.
With significant cuts to the so-called “deep state,” including the intelligence services that keep eyes—and pressure—on people like Haqqani, alienation of our allies with whom we share intelligence, and now the rescission of the bounty, it’s hard to see, if the administration wanted to invite another terrorist attack, what they’d do differently.
Senseless turncoat. ZK has some interesting karma.
