Hi everyone! Today, I want to share something special that means a lot to me. You know how I usually write about Afghan culture and why education is super important? Well, this time, it’s not just about writing—it’s about doing something real.
Remember, I promised to tell you more about what my sister Taiba is all about? Here we go! I’m so excited to tell you about Her Craft! It’s a project that my sister Taiba dreamed about. Her Craft is all about helping Afghan girls get a chance to learn, build skills, and earn money by making beautiful handmade crafts. Just think about it: each craft is made with love and tells a story of hope and strength.
Why Her Craft? Taiba’s target is girls aged 12-26. She believes that these are the most vulnerable ages in Afghanistan. You see, over there, life for girls ages 12 to 26 is really hard. The Taliban won’t let them go to school after sixth grade, so they’re stuck at home and sometimes forced to get married just so their families can survive.
But what if we could change that? What if these girls could use their talents to help their families and find their own way to freedom?
That’s where Taiba’s Her Craft project comes in. It’s more than a project—it’s a way for these girls to share their amazing crafts with the world. Every time someone buys one of their handmade pieces, it helps them learn, grow, and stay strong.
What’s Next? Here’s the exciting part! Her Craft is going to have its own website soon, where you can see and buy these special crafts. When you buy something, you’re helping a girl in Afghanistan get an education and build a better life. It’s like being part of their story—one small act that makes a big difference.
I can’t wait to tell you more and share stories about Taiba’s artisan girls. So, stay tuned for the website launch—you’re going to love it!
With lots of excitement,
Aqsa
I’m excited to see the website. My granddaughter will be 12 this Friday. I want to make sure to get something for her and maybe all her classmates. It is important for many of these girls to learn of the struggles of girls in Afghanistan.
That's super exciting Aqsa!! I so look forward to seeing the Website and learning more about your Sisters beautiful crafts.
Thanks for sharing this too Will. A bright light in a very dark landscape. ❤️🇺🇸🌎
