I remember the day you called about the loss of Chavez. It was a beautiful sunny day in Central Texas and I was in the grocery store. I had to leave there when you called. It all became so very real to me what you faced that day. I called Pops and he was headed over to College Station for a football game he pulled over to talk about it. Pops always wanted to know the details. Chavez did have a bright friendly smile from his photos. Such a young life filled with promise. So many losses from another lifetime ago.
What painful and beautiful memories. I'm sorry for your loss. Though I don't know them, I pay tribute to his family.
"We're not here to ask the questions and get them answered. We're here to complete the mission. We'll worry about that stuff when we get home."
We will WORRY about that stuff When. We. Get. Home.
Truer words never spoken.
