To our community,
We are reaching out to you on behalf of
Over the weekend, our team was able to rescue one of our own teammate’s family members from Taliban captivity. We call her “Razma,” a Persian name representing strength and bravery—a fitting reflection of her incredible resilience. Razma has endured unimaginable suffering during her time in captivity, including severe physical, sexual, and psychological abuse. Her rescue is just the first step in what will be a long and challenging journey toward healing.
Our immediate priority is to provide Razma with the care and support she desperately needs: medical attention, secure housing, and the resources to begin her recovery. We are also working to bring her to the United States,
where she can be reunited with her family and continue healing in a safe environment. These efforts come with significant costs, and we request your help.
Your support can make all the difference. Every donation, no matter the amount, will directly contribute to
Razma’s recovery and future. Specifically, funds will go toward:
1. Medical Care: Covering the treatment and therapy needed for the physical, sexual, and psychological
injuries she sustained during her ordeal. This is especially critical as women in Afghanistan currently have no access to medical care.
2. Housing and Security: Providing a safe, comfortable space where Razma can recover and feel secure.
3. Repatriation: Facilitating her safe return to the United States, where she can be with her family and continue her journey toward healing.
Your generosity can bring light into Razma’s life after enduring such darkness. Together, we can help her begin anew and remind her that the world still holds compassion and hope for Afghan women.
To contribute, please visit our new non-profit, The Afghan American Veterans Alliance, and you can make a charitable donation that will go directly to this case.
Thank you for standing with us in this critical mission. Your support is Razma’s lifeline, and we are deeply grateful for your compassion. You can either donate to AAVA (link below) or become a paid subscriber/founding member. Any help is appreciated.
With heartfelt gratitude and solidarity,
Kate, Will, and the GCV+F team
