Howdy,
On my therapist's advice, I’ve been encouraged to let go of past grudges. So, I'll begin with one last comment about President Joe Biden.
Let’s start with some good news: the Democrats are beginning to sober up.
Here’s the money quote from an excellent piece by
:Whether Democrats want to move on from Biden or stomp on him may end up being moot. The ex-president’s conduct throughout the 2024 campaign is the subject of a handful of books slated to be released this spring. An excerpt published last week from one of those books—FIGHT: Inside the Wildest Battle for the White House, by Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes—detailed how Biden personally demanded Kamala Harris remain loyal to him and not criticize his presidency, setting off a fresh round of anger even among those who worked for the president.
Here’s the thing about Joe Biden: he’s not a good man. Sorry. He’s done some good things, no doubt, but that doesn’t make him a good person.
To adapt the White House around the needs of a diminished leader, they told visitors to keep meetings focused. Interactions with senior Democratic lawmakers and some cabinet members—including powerful secretaries such as Defense’s Lloyd Austin and Treasury’s Janet Yellen—were infrequent or grew less frequent. Some legislative leaders had a hard time getting the president’s ear at key moments, including ahead of the U.S.’s disastrous pullout from Afghanistan.
In short, it’s long overdue for Democrats to decisively move on from Biden, Schumer, and the rest of the gerontocracy. Look, I respect Nancy Pelosi, but when you need to ask a “retired” speaker to shiv the President, maybe you’re not approaching it the right way.
In the end, I think it’s healthy that Democrats begin coming to terms with America’s most recent failed president: Joe Biden. And even if you believe that President Biden did a good job, let us never forget this fantastic performance.
President Joe Biden was repeatedly warned to drop out. Hell, I even begged him to speak openly and honestly about Afghanistan.
But, instead, he will go to his grave insisting that the Afghans are to blame and that he could’ve beaten Trump if it wasn’t for him shitting the bed on live television.
In the end, President Joe Biden will go down as the biggest failed president in modern American history, eclipsing the recently departed Jimmy Carter, who at least served ably in World War II.
President Joe Biden wanted to be president his whole life. Finally, after securing his prize, he refused to let go of his precious, resulting in the rise of a stronger, more unified MAGA movement.
EPIC FAIL.
Hey, Will! You are not alone in your disappointment with Joe Biden. I wasn't a fan anyway, but I trusted him with my vote because I'd have voted for my cat if it would stop the movement behind Trump. That was Biden's primary role and responsibility. He did accomplish some good things, but not the most important thing: stopping the MAGA movement from gaining power. He tried to use the ring instead of destroying it. Now here we are, fighting a much stronger enemy.
Will, I am glad that your therapist gave you that advice and I hope that you can work toward that goal. It is a damn hard thing to do, especially when there is no justice served and the pain defines one's days. But that is probably the best reason for you to let go, because what was done has trapped you, preventing you from being in the here and now. I speak from experience, but certainly not at your level. Please forgive me if I am over-stepping. I just wish you better times.
And regarding the worst president, I think the current so-called president is the worst. By a long shot. I don't even view The Felon as my president because he is reigning over his monstrous creation of a kingdom, and I live in a country defined by the Constitution and the rule of law.
