Hey! Do not charge down the steps! Pause at the top for 5 seconds and ask your body a question, "Am I ready to go down these steps? Are we all, various bits and pieces, ready to go down these steps?" Do not proceed until you get a clear answer.

It's a question I have to ask my body every time I stand up.

Thanks, Kathleen. Yes. I have to slowdown.

Yes. At strategic moments, slow down.

Tell Charity (my good friend's daughter's name) that those of us with decent reading comprehension skills never once took your writings as a negativity against anything, anyone, or our country. You're doing as we all should be doing. Standing up for injustices.

Also, perhaps you've seen this article already. I found it disappointing to say the least.

Pretty sure we would agree on little. (Although Charity sounds like a nice woman to know.) But I appreciate your candor. Keep at it. I can always skip any post (by anyone) that infuriates me. I’m old enough to remember being told if I didn’t like what was on TV, I could turn it off. One of my principles for living.

Hi, Will! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to refer you to a Substack contributor covering some of the same ground you do...but from the Navy side: CDR Salamander. This particular post deals with abandoning allies:

I greatly appreciate your work as a dedicated civilian who needs to know How Things Really Work. Keep fighting the good fight...here in the U.S.

Being a surviving combat vet with four healthy limbs means that you have to deal with all the PTSD, moral injury, TBIs, depression, sleep issues, and rage episodes while at the same time telling yourself that you were one of the lucky ones. It’s such a surreal-feeling contradiction when you come back and seeing how good the folks who didn’t go have it. You feel robbed, but you have to tell yourself that you’re fortunate. You missed out on having a normal life, but you’re also alive and aren’t missing a leg or an arm or both. Your brain is fucked, but you’re still in one piece. To this day it’s such a weird concoction of emotional response for me, and I imagine it’s that way for a lot of vets out there.

'Amen, brother. Coming is the hardest part. How do I talk about something so incomprehensible to ordinary Americans? Most of them live in a surreal world blessed by geography, abundance, and frivolity.
