Not all of us have forgotten. Earlier this month, I was at an outreach event for Afghanis in SoCal. It was a federally funded and organized project, one of the last done all over the country as part of OAW. Everyone there understood and appreciated what was trying to be accomplished.
They should be getting 43 Hellfires a week, instead. The only reason I don't beat up Biden on this is it makes Trump look good, when in fact he was the one who really got that ball rolling.
Also, it is great seeing Ukraine as a giant Roach Motel.
I resent as a military family member that this is the way it is handled. Some of us gave up 20 years with our loved ones for arriving at this point. It is diabolical and they never speak of it out loud. No words.
Can we blame someone besides Biden? W stripped US forces in Afghanistan to invade Iraq. Obama in eight years did what besides finally getting OBL? And Trump? Don’t even get me started. That’s 20 years and three administrations that F-ed it up. Let’s not memory hole that.
I totally agree. Pathetic is the perfect word. I’m looking for Biden to speak those words about Afghanistan. Where are his advisors? Does no one around him feel embarrassed for using these words when we left behind so many? Or where is his integrity? I like Koller’s comment about the Afghans - they defeated
Of your three "memory-holing" exercises, the one that instantly jumps at me and has me saying, "Yeah, that's not true," is the Afghans Did Not Fight excuse. Fighting occupiers is baked-into their history and like, I'm not a historian. That's just me after watching a handful of shows on History, Discover, or who knows where. They defeated the Russian Red Army, for godssakes.
But this is one reason I hate politics. I follow politics, but when it comes to war, mistakes, errors, death, and accepting responsibility... yeah, I haven't seen it yet the way I'd like, from a President. I am a "The buck stops here" kind of guy. Truman decided to drop the bomb, Biden screwed up our withdrawal, and Trump mishandled covid. GW Bush is responsible for sending in the troops in the first place. End of story (although I like to find out what REALLY happened when it comes to things, responsibility always lies with the leader, in my mind).
I also forgot about reading the book Eagle Down and just being appalled at the cavalier attitude the military itself had toward the SF troops serving as QRF the last few years in Afghanistan.
Oh Will. That really just sucks. Big time. I'm so so sorry for the loss of your friend and for everything else. I've never meant to make light of your losses. I can't even begin to imagine what they feel like. As far as Biden's statement goes damn I bet you'd like to punch him in the face for that one to say the least. What a colossal clusterfu#$. Like another person said I truly have no words. All I can do is apologize for them and keep thanking you and the rest of the Vets who gave so very very much for all of us. 💔🇺🇸💙

Thank you for reading and for helping out.
