Thank you for sharing your story, Helai. I hope to hear more from you. Of all the freedoms I appreciate as an American, the rights I have as a woman to make my own life choices ranks near the top. No society that denies women these rights can sustain itself in the long term. Brave women like you will lead the work to transform your society, no matter how long it takes.

And a big thanks to Will for providing a platform for your voice and the voices of many other Afghans.

Please continue sharing your stories with us, and thank you for this one too. YES, education is the best tool humans have at their disposal to combat fear. The same fear in those who disrespected you, your students, and classes by their own ignorance. Women were basically "property" of their husbands not so many years ago here. My single mother couldn't get a credit card without permission granted from her new husband in the late 1960s.

Welcome to the future of America if Project 2025 is implemented in a T. Rump second term only it will not be the Taliban knocking on doors, it will be Evangelical Christians. We are already seeing it in Oklahoma with our education system in the clutches of Ryan Walters.
