This week, I want to write about one of the most special days in the Islamic calendar: Laylatul Qadr. Laylatul Qadr, also known as “The Night of Power,” is the most significant and holy night on the Islamic calendar. It is celebrated to honor the night Allah revealed the Quran to Prophet Muhammad through Jibreel, His angel.
Although no one knows when, the night of Laylatul Qadr falls on one of the last ten nights of Ramadan. Since the exact timing of this blessed night is uncertain, our beloved Prophet Muhammad advised us to seek it during the last ten nights, particularly on the odd nights of Ramadan, which include the 21st,23rd,25th,27th, and 29th nights. Most Muslims believe it is most likely the 27th night of Ramadan, but since no one is certain, it could be any of these blessed nights.
On this very special day, any worship or prayer is worth 1,000 times more credit than on ordinary days. Another reason why Laylatul Qadr is one of the most significant days on the Islamic calendar is that Allah promised to listen to prayers during that night. As such, many Muslims seek forgiveness for their sins and pray for their wishes to come true.
Muslims typically pray as much as they can on this very special night, which is considered holy. They also perform Tahajjud, praying at midnight. Many Muslims read the Quran to draw closer to Allah. They ask for their wishes to come true, such as good health or guidance on the right path in life. Additionally, some people give charity to assist those in need. The Prophet Muhammad taught us this dua to recite on this night:
اللهم إنك عفو تحب العفو فاعفُ عني which in English letters is "Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibbul ‘afwa fa’fu ‘anni.".
It doesn’t matter if you are Muslim or not; you can still do some of these things for extra credit on this night. Have a wonderful day or evening! Always be kind, and thank you for reading my blog. Bye!
Love, Aqsa!
Praying that our country lifts the bans on pro democracy Afghans trying to flee the Taliban
(Their desperate situation, because they helped American and Cislition forces drive Al Waeda out of Afghan caves…. And thanks in part to Trumps Diana deal with healing that disempowered the elected Afghan govt) Those bans even include Afghansxwhose visas were approved for travel in Feb by the U.S.
People who fled to Pakistan are now told by Pakistan they will be deported back to prison, torture or death by Taliban
