There are many fathers of America’s betrayal of its Afghan brothers and sisters. I will start doing a deep dive into some of the most unsavory characters and highlighting them for the world to see. The aim in all of this is to provide you with some context so the next time these wataan farooshes (Pahsto: traitors) pop up from their caves, you can properly identify them.
Like so many pro-Taliban apologists, Barnett R. Rubin (@BRRubin) has all the proper credentials. He’s a Distinguished Fellow at the Center for International Cooperation at New York University and received his PhD & MA from the University of Chicago. He’s written a lot of books, most of which are as dull as watching grass grow, but feel free to check them out. He also worked for the Obama administration (but, of course) and played a pivotal role in their failed attempts to make nice-nice with the Taliban.
I’ve read most of his books on Afghanistan. I learned some stuff, but I didn’t really know much about Dr. Rubin until he started championing President Obama’s outreach to the Taliban and then also cheerleading President Trump’s Doha agreement.
The United States and supporters of Afghanistan’s Islamic Republic fear that the Taliban may exploit a troop withdrawal to seek a military victory, while the Taliban fears that its concessions may demoralize its fighters and enable the United States to postpone troop withdrawal. The agreement overcomes mistrust by sequencing the components and stating that all are interdependent. As each measure is implemented, the parties will monitor compliance before taking the next step.
Let’s see how that worked out for us.
Despite watching his dream of a deal with Afghanistan fall apart, Dr. Rubin hasn’t kept that from fluffing for some of the Taliban’s most ruthless killers. In June 2024, GCV+F broke that Sirajuddin Haqqani was galavanting around the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. Dr. Rubin, a man who dreamed of peace in Afghanistan, had this to say about a man drenched in American blood.
Sirajuddin Haqqani has deep ties to Al Qaeda. His father, Jalaluddin, helped Osama Bin Laden get into Afghanistan. Sirajuddin Haqqani, who is currently the Minister of Interior, was the Deputy Taliban Emir, and never once did he distance himself from Al Qaeda—nor has he since. But Barnett Rubin, a man with all those fancy degrees, wants you to believe that Sirajuddin Haqqani is a changed man. Here he is in the New York Times’s recent fluff piece about Barnett’s BFF, Siraj.
“The U.S. was never central to their ideology, like it was to Osama bin Laden’s,” said Barnett Rubin, a former U.N. and U.S. diplomat in Afghanistan. “We thought that because they are fighting the U.S. they are anti-American, but in their view they are fighting invaders because they are anti-invader.”
LOL.
Yeah. Sirajuddin has a much different ideology than Osama. As the Minister of Interior, Siraj is in charge of all of the Taliban’s police officers. Thus, he’s responsible for enforcing many of the Taliban’s edicts. Let’s take a look at how that’s playing out—from headlines this week!
So why is Barnett Rubin so over the moon for the Taliban, the Haqqani Network, and thus Al Qaeda (who never broke its pledge of loyalty to the Taliban)?
Look, I get that people don’t like Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, or perhaps Israel’s war with Hamas. If you don’t think I know that as a Jew, then please move along. I don’t hide my Zionism. Never. But Barnett is an anti-Semite. I’m sorry. This is pure, unadulterated Jew hatred.
This is why Barnett is pro-Taliban. This is why he’s pro-Haqqani. He hates Jews. You cannot call Jews Nazis and then come out and say, “But I just want a two-state solution!” I’m all in favor of a two-state solution. I think it’s the best long-term fix, though it won’t happen in my lifetime. Hell, you can hate Bibi all you want (half of Israel does!). But this is beyond the pale.
So, when you see Barnett Rubin quoted as an Afghan expert, take a moment of pause. For over a decade, he’s been carrying the Taliban’s water, and even when it was apparent they weren’t interested in peace, Rubin still championed a “deal” with them. And even after all of their crimes against humanity, you get this from the Taliban’s English website:
According to a statement of the Afghan Embassy in Beijing, Mawlawi Asadullah Bilal Karimi, the Islamic Emirate Ambassador to China, met with the American researcher Mr. Barnett Rubin at the Embassy of the Islamic Emirate in Beijing.
During their discussion, they delved into the multifaceted nature of relations between the IEA and China, highlighting the constructive and reciprocal engagements of the IEA with neighboring nations, the region, and the global community.
Furthermore, they exchanged views on the prospects of guaranteed peace and stability following the complete governance of the Islamic Emirate in Afghanistan, emphasizing positive developments and the potential for enhanced opportunities in political, economic, and commercial domains.
I hope he’s not acting in an official capacity for the Biden administration. But at this point in our little sage, nothing would surprise me.
That's sickening!! While I don't care much for Bibi I still support Israel 100% and would never in a million years call them Nazis. And I cannot believe he supports the Taliban and all their hideousness. Who is this man and how is he still involved in our Government?!! Grrrrr.
