Just finished listening to Will and Kate talking about their work with Afghanis. I want you both to know how deeply I was able to hear you. I understand what it means to be willing to sit with someone in the darkness of their pain and suffering. Rarely have I heard people talk about what that means, the effects it can have...with so much honesty and depth and breadth of soul. I have the deepest admiration for your dedication to your work. You have helped me better understand some of my own struggles in this life of mine. I particularly appreciated your discussion of what it's like to be enraged over government policies that lead to the abandonment of folks who deserve help and protection. I think one of you called it nebulous. Like who or what are we actually blaming? I also appreciated hearing about your sense of failure, Kate. Anyway, I will hold all of this in my heart for a long time. Thank you both so much. You are brilliant and so beautiful.
