Will Selber, there's no one like you on the planet. That is why you have so often looked around and asked, “Why is there no one here but me?” You're also a great example of the old Spanish proverb, “G*d writes straight with crooked lines.” And here's another expression that fits you well, “Too much is not enough. "
I know you both your mother and wife understand that you are basically a free ranging lunatic at heart. But with the best possible goals!
This is coming from a woman whose mother regularly told me, “Kathleen, you're weird." BTW, I had 30 hyperbaric oxygen treatments last summer.
You're the kind of guy who lives so fully that you complete your life every single day. Every time you go to sleep it's a funeral, and every time you wake up it's a resurrection. Sorry, but Jewish Jesus really did rise from the dead. he's your bruddah,
As I worked to get guys out, more called. For anyone who had a need four more had more needs. For every guy I had in Afghanistan two more would call from Iran or Pakistan. You get the news… my friend was killed, you inevitably are consumed by this effort. It’s a hardship for all involved.
Congrats on reaching the first 100. I appreciate what you're doing here. A lot of your writing is hard to read but I do it anyway. It seems like the very least I can do for you and all who have served. Thank you.
Thank you for everything you are doing with this Substack. A lot of people want to write about war, but most of them haven’t been there or haven’t been there recently. And very few of the people who write about war have the courage to talk about how it affected them, and what is like to live through the aftermath. Congratulations on reaching 100 subscribers. I hope you get hundreds and thousands more.
My pleasure to be on board with your projects. I said earlier you all are turning out so much I’m trying to keep up. You’ve opened my eyes to not only your personal struggles but those of your friends. Congrats on the 100 subscribers. Keep writing.
I'm a subscriber!

Please, someone, read this at my funeral.

G*d bless you, ma'am.
Congratulations! Keep doing the hard work, and heal as loudly as you can. All the best to you and yours!

Happy for you, will.
I’m happy that your truth telling helps you as it helps your fellow soldiers, and people want to hear.
I’m happy you help afghans because it’s not good that we left them behind. Maybe your help is better than military help.
Love getting to know more Afghans than just the ‘Kite Flyer’.
Congratulations! I am a huge fan of what you're doing here. As soon as I am employed again, I will join your paid subscribers.
